A Gathering Rooted in Purpose
-Michelle McCollum, President & CEO of the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor (SCNHC)
“The SC Resilience Conference is more than just a professional convening—it’s a mission-driven gathering shaped by the work and values of the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor (SCNHC). For 30 years, SCNHC has been a leader in environmental education, conservation, outdoor recreation, and tourism planning throughout South Carolina. Through our work and by learning from our incredible partners, we came to a profound realization: resilience is not just about natural resources—it’s about people and place, side by side. That understanding became the inspiration for this conference.”
We believe that resilience is not just a concept; it is a lived, shared experience—woven through our people, our places, and our economy. Whether it’s preparing for severe weather events, strengthening public health, protecting working lands, or cultivating local economies through green infrastructure and outdoor access, we understand that lasting impact happens when sectors come together.
Our why
Across South Carolina and the broader Southeast, incredible work is being done—by community planners, conservationists, healthcare leaders, emergency responders, and community advocates. But all too often, that work happens in silos; with each group focusing on their mission, but not necessarily on how those missions intersect with one another. This conference was born out of a vision to break down those walls and bring practitioners together around a shared mission of overarching resilience.
At the SC Resilience Conference, you’ll experience a gathering designed not to overwhelm—but to inspire, connect, and recharge. Our format is intentionally paced: thoughtful, immersive, and centered on collaboration rather than competition. Evening events aren’t loud galas—they’re casual, welcoming spaces for genuine connection and shared ideas.
